LECTURES: Timo Borst - Libraries, Semantic Web and the future of librarianship

University Library “Svetozar Markovic” and Goethe Institut in Belgrade are welcoming dr Timo Borst from German National Library for Economics. Dr Borst will hold a lecture “Opening up repositories for the Semantic Web” at Goethe Institut on November 29, and will participate in a round table discussion on the “Future of Libraries in Serbia” at the Faculty of Philology on November 30.

Libraries are continuously focusing on the future trends in librarianship, as well as on the ways that libraries will be able to collect and distribute knowledge, having in mind the role that digital resources and new technology have today.


German expert in semantic web dr Timo Borst, head of the Innovative information systems and publishing technologies department at the German National Library for Economics, will present his ideas in Belgrade at the Goethe Institut on Friday, November 29 at 1.30 PM. His lecture “Opening up repositories to the Semantic Web” won LIBER Award for Library Innovations 2013.


Dr Borst will also participate in a round table discussion on “Future of Libraries in Serbia” with the focus on semantic web, on Saturday, November 30 at 11 AM at the Faculty of Philology. Librarians and experts from National Library of Serbia, University Library “Svetozar Markovic” and Faculty of Philology will talk about various possibilities and future trends in Serbian librarianship.
