Ramón Reichert in Belgrade Lecture at the University Library “Svetozar Markovic”

Professor Ramón Reichert, one of the world’s leading experts in Digital Humanities will hold a lecture Digital Humanities: the Analysis of the Digital Transformation of Knowledge, Media and Technology at the University Library “Svetozar Markovic” in the hall on the first floor on May 14 at 1p.m.


Professor Reichert will give a talk about historical and technical preconditions for the emergence of Digital Humanities in the context of cultural-theoretical turn as a result of the introduction of automatized data processing in humanities. Moreover, Reichert will explain the theoretical framework of collaborative work within Digital Humanities 2.0 as a consequence of network culture prevailing in the modern world. The wider social importance of Digital Humanities lies principally in its huge contribution to knowledge democratization. However, it is also necessary to consider the limitations resulting from the doctrines and dogmas, which appeared due to the epistemological turn and digital hegemony in data creation and use.

About the lecturer:
Professor Reichert’s main research interest lies in thefield of “New Media” at the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies in Vienna. He analyzes social and cultural processes from the perspective of media history and theory.
In his research, in addition to Digital Humanities in a narrow sense, Reichert principally deals with the history and theory of documentary image media, digital media communication, network cultures/networked society cultures, narratology and aesthetics of interactive texts, new media theory, digital practice of knowledge visualisation, epistemology within media theory, media governmentality, dispositive reception, social technologies, visual politics and political communication.
